Humanities Research Center held a workshop on Cross-Strait film industry and studies, inviting workers in film and culture industry in order to studies film history practically. Professor Liu wei-kai compared cross- strait historical films and found that Chinese governmental-produced films do not have pressure on finance but Taiwan do has its own characteristics.

The research team believed that written history shows a country’s inner cultivation and culture, on the contrary, films reflect a country outer cultural appearance. Professor Liu pointed out that films and words are two different channels which bring different feelings, yet they both have limits.

He said films and pictures are good at representing simple and easy to memorize images but they might be superfical; on the contrary, written words can go deepen in meanings but may not have sense of images.
