On May 25, 2012 The University has invited
representatives from the Korean Daesoonjinri-hoe and the
Taiwanese Yi Kuan Tao for a discussion on the comparison of
beliefs, their historical developments and other emerging
religious in East Asia. Taiwan and South Korea are very
similar in terms of political and economic situation: both
have gone through dramatic changes, which have contributed
to the drastic religious change and development. Religious
Studies has always concentrated on the study of new
religions, their comparative analysis with other religion
and of course looking at the new religion from the global
point of view, looking at the academic trends and trends in
East Asia.
The study also investigates on the transformation of the new
religions, consistent to the path the South Korea
Daesoonjinri-hoe and Taiwan Yi Kuan Tao has taken, because
the two religions have both experience the changes due to
modernization. This research can bring light to the
variation in different religions, and sufficiently provide
the religious and academic knowledge.
