Chen Cheng and Modern China
2015 marked the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Second Sino-Japanese War and also the 50th anniversary of Mr. Chen Cheng’s death. In order to recognize and commemorate Mr. Chen Cheng’s outstanding contributions, National Chengchi University specially organized a series of activities, including the “Conference on Chen Cheng and Modern China” and an exhibition of Mr. Chen Cheng’s cultural and historical relics. On March 5, scholars and specialists from Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong who researched Mr. Chen Cheng and his achievements were invited to the conference to have in-depth discussions. This book is therefore a collection with 13 profound essays presented in the conference. These essays investigate and examine activities of Mr. Chen Cheng during the Second Sino-Japanese War and his Taiwan experiences. It is hoped that through the publication of this book, the academia and the public will thus have more sound and deep understanding of how Mr. Chen Cheng fought against foreign enemies and devoted his life to serving and building his country.
